Andi's Children Part 2 - The Twins Talk

A couple months later 

The Prescott family was just finishing up breakfast and Riley had gone out to get started on the ranch chores. Andi was washing the dishes and suddenly she heard  “Momma” it was not very clear but definitely a word, she froze and then spun around.

Riley had taken Jared with him to do the chores so it couldn't be him. Thought spun around in her head, “Was that my baby talking?” What one?” she stared at her twins, one of them had talked but what one?? She walked over to them, they looked up at her and gurgled. 

Andi watched them for a minute and then went back to washing the dishes, not something she liked to do but it had to be done! A few minutes later she heard it again! “Momma” She spun around again but still did not know what baby it was, they were both awake. Andi just looked at them and gave a little chuckle, “Well girls. I guess it's a secret now!” “And I’ll let Riley find out on his own, he’s going to be puzzled!” 

 That evening when Riley and Jared came in Andi still had the girls in the crib near the table so if they talked he would hear! Sure enough, while they were eating Riley heard a baby talk but instead of saying ‘Momma’ she said “Daddy’ not super clear but it was a word! He jumped up and hurried over to the babies. “Andi! One talked!” he exclaimed.

“I know, one of them said Momma twice today but I have no idea what one!” She said

 “Oh. My. Goodness! One is talking already! That’s great! I thought most babies talk later than one of our girls. They are about 6 months old, right?” Riley asked.

 “Yes, for most babies it’s a lot longer but not for these two! Or I guess one..” Andi answered.

 “Is it possible it is both talking and not just one?” At that moment Charlotte opened her mouth and said “Momma!” Then Lillian yelled “Daddy!!!” 

 Riley and Andi were shocked! Riley was right, it was both babies and not just one talking! “I guess they both are!” Andi said happily. 

 Jared came running over because he had heard a new voice! “Are my sisters talking?” He asked

 “Jared! Yes, your sisters are talking, both! Yee-haw!” and Riley took Jared and picked him up and spun him in a circle! He was so happy! 

 “Careful Riley!” Andi said giggling, her husband could be so funny at times!  

 Every day after that it seemed like the twins learned a new word! They both got Jared mastered in one day, even Dr. Weaver was surprised how fast they were learning words! Another few months passed, the Prescott family were doing great, the girls had learned so many words, Jared loved having them around, he would sit every evening and talk to them. 

 Soon the girls learned how to crawl everywhere! It was hard to keep everything out of reach from Charlotte and Lillian but Andi didn’t mind! Neither did Riley. The twins were worth it!

 

A While Later

Much time had passed, Andi and Riley were enjoying their new twins so much. They already knew how to crawl so they were into everything! Andi of course didn’t mind! One day she set Charlotte and Lillan down on the floor and she turned to fix supper for everyone. Less than a minute later she felt a slight tug on her dress! It was Lillian and Charlotte! They were holding on to one another and they were walking! “Oh my goodness, girls! You know how to walk!” 

 Lillan nodded, very seriously, “Yes, Mama, we know how too.”

 Andi laughed softly, how blessed she was with these two girls! “Yes, you can, now, can you stay over there?” Pointing to their play-area “I have to fix supper for us,  and Daddy and Jared”

 “Okay, Mama!” said Charlotte and they toddled over to the play spot. 

 That evening Riley and Jared came in from the ranch work and they sat down for supper. Andi had purposely left the forks over near the counter so the twins could get them. She took the plates full of food to Jared and Riley, she called behind her, “Lillian? Charlotte? Can you bring the forks please?”

The twins were still playing in the corner so they stood up and got the forks and brought them to the table and gave them to Riley, who was staring at his girls in shock! He could not believe it, they were walking already! He looked at Andi, who had a big smile on her face. “Oh,you knew!” he said laughing. 

 “That, I did. This afternoon they surprised me because they were walking!”

 Riley smiled, and told Jared “Your sisters are walking now, it won’t be long before they will want to do more things with you, Jared!”

 “Yay!” Jared exclaimed happily.
