Seasonal Entries

These seasonal contest entries did not place, but the young writers deserve recognition for all their hard work. The most recent year's entries are added at the top. Scroll down to see the different kinds of contests over the years.

Winter/Spring 2024 "An Open Writing Contest"

In the past, stories that did not place could be requested to go up on this page as entries. However, since this contest was wide open (and not limited to Circle C fan fiction stories), I changed things around.

If you submitted a Circle C story, it will be posted with the Circle C Fan Fiction in April and May. The winning two stories (one from each age group) are published on the Seasonal Winners page. Here you can link over and read the four other finalists from each age group.

Ages 9-13

  • #16 – Olivia (age 13) & Elijah (age 7) Miera. “Escaping the British Squadron” A War of 1812 story set aboard the USS Constitution.
  • #19 – Marenn C. Harris (age 11). “The Bonding Note.” Riley sends a note in a bottle. Where does it wash up? Who finds it?
  • #21 – Skylar Thompson (age 12). “Superhero Life in Missouri.” A lonely new girl at school with a special “super” power.
  • #27 – Emma Moody (age 11). “A Stranger Named Becky.” Will a mysterious stranger Andi finds on the range help her appreciate her bossy older brother?

Ages 14-18

  • #5 – Henry Widman (age 14). “The Disappearing Relics.” A 1949 museum mystery. Who stole the ancient relics?
  • #10 – Briley Jones (age 17). “The Best Quinceañera Ever.” A fun sequel set just after the events in Circle C Milestones book 2, Heartbreak Trail.
  • #18 – Faith Holston (age 15). “A Cup of Cold Water.” Ella discovers that following in the steps of Jesus in this modern age is more difficult than she imagined.
  • #24 – Emma Atcheson (age 14). “Tender Heart of Mine.” Set in 1914 London, a young woman finds surprises and heartbreak.

Fall 2023 Photo & Prompt Entries

Note: When I could, I included the prompt picture. Sometimes it worked, and other times it did not "stick." That explains why some stories have the picture and some do not. I apologize on behalf of Blogger.

  3. I wasn’t really sure where to put this comment. I hope this would be the right spot.

This may just be something with my device, but when I click on Writing Contests, then press on the Seasonal Contests page, it comes up that it cannot be found. However, when I go to the Fan Fiction page and press the Seasonal Contest Winners and Entries, it comes up. I don’t know if this is intentional, or a problem at all if you can get to it either way, but I thought I’d just make sure :)

    1. Thanks for noticing! I had moved the seasonal contest entries (and lots of other stories, FF, etc.) to this blogspot page and thought I had replaced all of the links. I saw that the image link had not been updated so I fixed it. 🤩
