Life on the Ranch

 by Rebekah Clark

My name is Rebekah, welcome to the Fiddlers Ranch! Why we named our ranch Fiddlers is because my father plays the fiddle every night! I have two other siblings, one is older than me and his name is Dan, the other is younger and her name is Elizabeth.  I like to ride Taffy my horse around the ranch.  She is a Palomino, with a white line down her head. I love Taffy. My chores are to feed the chickens, to feed and water the family horses, and to groom and brush Taffy. My sister’s horse is named Rapids because she has two brown stripes and black ‘’bubbles’’ mixed into the stripes! Dan’s horse is a buckskin named Bandit because of his black eyes and his fierce attitude. My mother’s horse is white with a black nose her name is Cream! My father’s horse is as black as night and his name is Coal.

Every morning after breakfast and chores, my siblings and I ride around the ranch, and then we go home for schooling from mother. After school Dan and I go and lasso calves! then we go home and I help make lunch, then us girls sew until lunch is ready. Mother sends Dan to get father for lunch. After lunch, mother packs a picnic basket for us kids. Us kids go riding, while mother and father have tea at the house. In the evening, my siblings and I sit on the porch and watch the sunset and talk about the exciting day!
