Andi’s Kitty Trouble
Sara M.
10-year old Andi Carter always loved kittens and
wanted them to live inside with her. At the time there 2 litters of kittens in
the barn, Andi thought she could get them in her room and hide them. There were
4 kittens in each litter, they were 8 weeks and Chad was going to sell them,
“Andi, I told you, we are selling them. End of conversion.” He had said “But….”
Chad held up his hand and said “No buts Andi, they are going.”
Andi rushed from the room and burst into tears. ‘I
love those kittens; Chad just can’t sell them!’ she thought to herself. She
sighed and looked around her room, “Oh!! My wardrobe! I can keep the kittens in
there!” Andi whispered to herself.
Then her mother came to the door, “Good night
Andi, see you in the morning” she said softly.
“Good night Mother.” Andi responded.
However, Andi did not go to bed, she stayed up.
After a while she tiptoed out of the house to the barn, she gathered up all 8
kittens and put them in her wardrobe! Andi then hurried and got the kittens
food and water and some toys to keep them busy and quiet. Andi fell asleep with
a smile on her face.
The next morning, she jumped out of bed and
checked the kittens, they were all good. She went downstairs and went to the
barn and fed Taffy and headed back inside and sat at the table, everyone else
was sitting there already and said “Good morning Andi!” “Good morning!” she
said back.
After they were eating for while Chad spoke up, “I
haven’t seen those kittens, have any of you seen them today?”
Everyone shook their head, “Andi, have you seen
them when you where feed Taffy?”
“No, I have not seen them out there today.”
Chad frowned; he was suspicious. Andi always would
play in the barn till they called her, today she was there before they had to
call her in. Chad thought to himself ‘Would Andi really take those kittens and
hide them?’
“Chad, please pass the biscuits.” Chad snapped to
attention, “Oh, sure. Here.”
After breakfast Andi went upstairs and not
outside, now Chad was growing even more suspicious. Andi never went upstairs
before going outside again! Chad followed her and knocked on her door,
“Andi, may I come in” Without waiting for an
answer he went in.
Andi jumped up, “Yes, what’s up?”
“I wanted to know if all was well, you never go
back upstairs before going outside." Chad suddenly he saw a movement
behind her. Andi knew what he was looking at and tried to distract him. “I’m
good, thanks for checking. Want to go outside?”
“Yea, we ca… What is that!!??” He screeched. One
of the kittens had just dashed under him!
“Andi! How did these kittens get in your room? I
want an answer now.” Chad said when Andi just looked down.
She started to cry, “I don’t want you to sell them
Chad! I love them so!” and sank down on the floor and wept.
“Oh, Andi, I did not know how much they meant to
you. I guess we can keep a few! 4 kittens are max.”
“Thank you, thank you, Chad! Thank you!” Andi
cried.
“Let’s get the kitten back out to the barn. Hang
on a minute, did you bring all kittens?!”
“Um, yes.” Andi admitted weakly.
Chad slapped his hand to his head in wonder, “And
how did you do this?” he asked.
“I brought them in late last night.” Andi said.
She and Chad gathered up all kittens and took them
to the barn. Mitch saw them, “You found them! Great!”
"Yes, we did. Right Andi?” Giving her a look
that said ‘we don’t have to tell everyone’ Andi gave Chad a thankful smile and
nodded.
“What ones are we going to keep?” Chad asked Andi,
“I really like these 2 and that orange spotted one
and the all-white one.”
“All right, we will keep them, the others will be
sold. OK?” “Andi nodded and said “Yes, I will be grateful for keeping any!
Thanks again Chad!!” and gave him a big hug. “Your welcome” Chad said.
Good job!👍
