Gone . . . But Not Forgotten Part 2

 by Micaiah C.

**3 ½ years after “Gone … But Not Forgotten”**

Help me get through this LORD! Prayed Andrea (Andi) Rose Carter Prescott. She looked up from her bible, as her 8-year-old daughter, Lillian (Lilly) Prescott walked in.

“What’s wrong mama?” She asked. “You have tears in your eyes.”

“I’m alright dear.” She said with a sad smile, “Today would have been Andrew’s 5th birthday.

“Who?” she asked.

“Your younger brother.” She replied. “You remember us talking about him. You were too young to remember him. You were only 3 when he was born, and 4 when he died. His birthday just hits me hard sometimes.”

“Oh. Would you like to be alone?” She asked.

“No dear. I think I would like someone to talk to. Sit down.”

Lily sat down, as her twin sister Charlotte (Lottie) came in.

“Can I join you?” asked Lottie.

Andi smiled and nodded. “Andrew was born February 5th, exactly 5 years ago, today…” She started.

**A few hours later**

Andi walked into the barn that night, after she had put Lottie and Lilly in bed. Her 11-year-old son, Jared was studying for an arithmetic test inside.

She found Riley in the barn fiddling with a halter, but what caught her attention was the silent tears streaming down his face. “Riley?” she said.

Riley turned around, wiped his face on his sleeve, and gave a watery smile. “I didn’t think anyone would find me out here.”

“Well, I did.” She replied, “May I join you?”

Riley nodded. She went over to where he stood, as he set down the halter. Riley opened his arms.

Andi fell into them with a sob. “Oh Riley!” she exclaimed.

“Umm.” Someone cleared his throat.

Andi turned around. In front of her stood Jared.

“I came to tell you I’m going to bed.” He said.

Andi nodded, “Goodnight.”

He turned around and walked back to the house.

**A few weeks later**

Andi ran out from the barn. She had just come back from town, and was looking for Riley, since she had exciting news to share. “Riley!” she called.

Riley ran out of the house “What’s the matter?” he called, alarmed.

“Nothing’s the matter!” she replied, “Everything’s wonderful!”

“What is it!” he asked.

“I’m pregnant!”

“Oh Andi! That’s wonderful!” he said as he picked Andi up and spun her around.

**About 8 months later**

Andi looked up, as mother came into the bedroom, carrying a little bundle. “Hello Andrea.” She said quietly, “Meet your daughter.”

Andi smiled and reached out her arms.

“What will you name her?” Elizabeth asked.

“Faith Hope Prescott.” She said, “It took a lot of faith to endure the death of Andrew, and hope to wait for little Faith.”

Elizabeth nodded, “The LORD will never leave you or forsake you.”

She then walked out, and said, “I’ll send Riley in.”

Riley walked into the bedroom as Andi smiled down at her new daughter, and thought, I’m so very blessed! Thank you, for this beautiful gift LORD!
